Real Sociedad Defensive Depth to Be Tested Ahead of PSG Clash After Latest Injury

Real Sociedad and Paris Saint-Germain will clash in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 matchup on Valentine’s Day at the Parc des Princes in a couple of weeks.

Sheraldo Becker has joined the La Liga side to strengthen its attack and pose a greater threat to PSG’s defense ahead of the matchup. Despite adding Becker, Real Sociedad also faces bad news.

The Spanish club announced on Sunday that Aihen Muñoz suffered a twist to his left knee during the RC Celta de Vigo-Real Sociedad match. Additionally, the tests conducted revealed a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament.

Kieran Tierney (on loan from Arsenal) will likely replace Muñoz, as both players competed for the starting left-back position. Real Sociedad’s depth might face a challenge in the upcoming weeks unless they add before the transfer window closes.

PSG suffered a crucial blow with Milan Skriniar’s injury. It remains uncertain whether the Parisians will strengthen their central defense with another addition or if they will put their depth in that position to the test.
