The Kylian Mbappé transfer saga should be a different experience for Real Madrid. After all, reports suggest a deadline, and the Spanish side is looking at other options, such as Victor Osimhen.
However, transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano put cold water on Los Blancos pursuing Osimhen. In his latest column for Caught Offside, Romano gave the latest on Real Madrid’s potential backup option should they fail to land Mbappé.
“Despite the rumours, Kylian Mbappé has not indicated the timing to announce his future move,” Romano wrote. “There’s absolutely nothing new on Victor Osimhen, including a move to Real Madrid instead of Mbappé.
“As I said many times before, nothing is happening for Osimhen in January, so it’s one that we will see what happens in the summer. Nothing concrete and nothing serious now.”
Real Madrid likely has a backup plan should the Mbappé pursuit fail, but that might be Erling Haaland. The Spanish side probably views the second tier of forwards as a drop and puts all their chips on the table to ensure they land one of Haaland or Mbappé.
It will be interesting to see whether the 14-time UEFA Champions League winner can land one of these two talented players or if a surprising situation happens where neither player calls the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium home in the future.
I am of new feeling that Real Madrid should drop pursuing Mbappe because of the fact that Mbappe is taking things as if alone is a team of soccer. The way he behaves it shows clearly that is going to cause a club serious proble and such will affect other players dearly. He might be a superstar but he should not be given such special treatment.
