Paris Saint-Germain defeated Toulouse FC 2-0 for the Trophée des Champions on Wednesday night at the Parc des Princes. Additionally, the result meant the first trophy in the Luis Enrique era.
Another player who won his first trophy with PSG was Kang-in Lee. The South Korean played a vital role in the victory, as he opened the scoring less than five minutes into the game. Ousmane Dembélé’s precise pass found Kang-in Lee, who converted it to give PSG a 1-0 lead over Toulouse.
In the postgame celebrations, Lee spoke to Prime Video and shared what being part of this PSG squad means to him and his current form.
“Yes, of course; before the match, we had the ambition to win this trophy,” Lee said (h/t Canal Supporters). “We are satisfied with that… I always try to help the team, and I work hard for it, to assist the team and my teammates… Clearly, playing with the best players in the world helps a lot. I learn a lot from them, I feel better and better, and I am very, very happy to be in this team.”
This goal trophy serves as a fitting farewell gesture for Lee, who will depart from PSG temporarily to participate in the Asian Cup. It contributes to the team’s early success and serves as a confidence boost for Lee as he aims to assist South Korea in their quest for a trophy in the upcoming weeks.
