PSG Advised to Rethink Big Spend on Lille Star Amid Real Madrid, Man Utd Interest

Leny Yoro is at the top of Paris Saint-Germain’s transfer target list to bolster their backline. The teenage defender has burst onto the scene this 2023-24 season with Lille OSC.

The 18-year-old center-back isn’t the only player on the Parisians’ radar. Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Manchester United have also inquired about Yoro. As a result, the Parisians need to act fast if they want to win this sweepstakes.

However, RMC Sport pundit Jérôme Rothen believes it’s too early for the capital club to pay an outrageous amount for a player who has yet to play an entire season with Lille.

“Leny Yoro has only been shining for a year,” Rothe said. “He is talented but still developing. He needs to finish the year, and then we’ll see. Investing so much money for PSG, I don’t understand. If the club is financially blocked for June… 60 million euros for a player with about thirty matches under his belt. We need to wait until he completes a full year first.

“I think it’s overpaid if the transfer happens now. Even Yoro has no interest in coming to PSG. And where would he even play? Danilo has established himself as a leader alongside Marquinhos; the young Beraldo and Lucas Hernandez can also play in the center. If PSG has money to spend, they should invest in a midfielder. If you want to replace Kylian Mbappé this summer, you’ll also need to keep your money to recruit other players.”

Based on a recent report, Les Dogues is targeting a fee ranging from €50 million to €60 million for the promising teenage defender. Lille is also keen on securing a contract extension for the defender, as his current deal expires in 2025. However, if he declines, this summer is likely the time for them to consider selling him.
