Why PSG Holds Off Move for Newcastle’s Bruno Guimarães Move This January

Paris Saint-Germain could be plotting a major swoop for Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimarães. Rumors have linked the Brazilian to the French capital during this January transfer window.

However, the finances make a move of this magnitude complicated. Additionally, there are other matters that PSG needs to address before making another big purchase.

According to Globo Esporte, the Parisians have shown interest in Guimarães; however, a transfer to PSG in January is not on the cards, as the priority is to determine the future of Mbappé, despite Luis Enrique’s desire to secure Guimarães now.

The door could open in the summer. Newcastle’s CEO has formally recognized the need to consider selling one of their standout players, such as Guimarães, to comply with the financial regulations established by the Premier League.

Times Sport reported the statements of the club chief, highlighting that a few players might be up for grabs this summer if the right offer comes along.

“On any player, at any time, it depends on circumstances,” the Newcastle CEO said. “It’s difficult to say specifically on certain players, but I can say that if we’re going to get to where we want to get to, at times, it is necessary to trade your players….”
