When Paris Saint-Germain said goodbye to Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr., it appeared the capital club was also saying farewell to the off-the-pitch business that the two players brought.
However, the Parisians might have struck gold with a replacement. The rise of Kang-in Lee has allowed PSG to tap into different markets. RMC Sport’s Daniel Riolo notes that if Lee can sustain his success, PSG has someone who can replace Messi and Neymar on the marketing side.
“He’s a hit,” Riolo said on After Foot RMC (h/t Le10Sport). “Over a year, it compensated for the losses of the stars who left in terms of business. The only question is whether it lasts. About Lee, we don’t know. Right there, upon his arrival, we cannot measure this guy’s absolute success in terms of business.”
Lee scored in the 2-0 Trophée des Champions win over Toulouse FC before leaving the French capital to join the South Korean national team for the 2023 Asian Cup in Qatar. If the 22-year-old continues this rise, he will be the hit of the South Korean and possibly the Asian market.
It will be interesting to see how the situation plays out, but there’s no denying that early on in his tenure, Lee is a hit.
