Barcelona’s Strategic Maneuver to Trump PSG in Chase for Newcastle United Gem

Paris Saint-Germain may be considering a significant move to acquire Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimarães. However, could the French giants face competition if they pursue the Brazilian?

Globo Esporte initially reported why the capital club wouldn’t push for the 26-year-old midfielder. Nonetheless, the Brazilian media outlet notes that there could be another player for Guimarães.

According to the report (h/t Le10Sport), FC Barcelona is already working behind the scenes to push for the Newcastle star. Still, the reported price tag that the Spanish club wants to pay falls way short of his contract’s reported £100 million release clause.

The Blaugrana are reportedly looking to set up an €80 million operation involving money and players to finalize the deal. It’s unlikely that Barcelona can get into a bidding war and wants to sure up the player.

However, manager Luis Enrique is keen on the player, and could that be the push for PSG to get aggressive for the player in the summer? The Parisians’ priority is finding out what happens with Kylian Mbappé. Afterward, they can determine what the next route to take is.
