2024 Olympics: Deschamps Comments on Mbappé Playing in the Summer Games

In 2024, Kylian Mbappé faces a busy schedule. With his contract ending at Paris Saint-Germain, the 25-year-old striker must choose between extending his contract with the capital club or joining another team.

This year also brings significant challenges on the field, particularly with the national team. Mbappé will aim to lead the French national team to a third European championship title during UEFA Euro 2024, hosted in Germany from June 14 to July 14.

Following the competition, the Frenchman may not be reaching his vacation time just yet. Mbappé has never hidden his desire to participate in the Olympic Games in Paris this summer.

If the French international reaches an agreement with his next club, Les Bleus manager Didier Deschamps is unlikely to stand in the way of his captain. When asked on Wednesday evening on TF1, the national team coach opened the door to his striker.

“If [Mbappé] has the desire and if he has the possibility… obviously, the goal for all of us is to ensure that Thierry Henry can have the most competitive French team possible for the tournament,” Deschamps said (h/t RMC Sport).

It’s worth noting that manager Thierry Henry can call up three players over 23 in the list of selected French players for the Olympics.
