Why Real Madrid? Endrick Opens Up on Rejecting PSG and Chelsea

Real Madrid’s Endrick, who will join the Spanish side in July, was one of the targets that Paris Saint-Germain had their eyes on before the Spanish club scooped up the youngster.

The Brazilian was recently in Madrid and spoke with The Athletic before his arrival next summer. Endrick shared behind-the-scenes details regarding the saga and what led to his choice of Real Madrid.

“At one point, there was a lot of talk about Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe for Madrid, and that was when there was strong interest from Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain,” Endrick said.

“Of course, they are big and important teams. I am very interested in them and they would be excellent options. I was attracted by the Premier League, the city of London and the fact that English is the economically dominant language in the world. And obviously Chelsea is a strong brand that has won two Champions Leagues.

“I was told that it rains a lot in London, but that wouldn’t be a problem because, as my father used to say, I always liked playing in the rain. But I always made it clear to my agent that my dream was Real Madrid.”

Even though PSG struck out on this Brazilian gem, the capital club still found other talent from the South American country. In recent days, the Ligue 1 side has reportedly signed defender Lucas Beraldo.

São Paulo FC has agreed to sell 20-year-old center-back Lucas Beraldo to PSG for €20 million plus €5 million in bonuses. Furthermore, the center-back isn’t the only Brazilian who could be on his way to the French capital.

Corinthians and PSG are reportedly in talks over midfielder Gabriel Moscardo. All signs point to the Ligue 1 side securing the player, so more Brazilian flare will be coming to Paris soon.
