The future of Kylian Mbappé will be front and center during the January transfer window. The 24-year-old can sign a pre-contract once the calendar turns to 2024.
Real Madrid reportedly will be in the mix. However, the Spanish giants have set a deadline, as they likely don’t want this saga to drag on for the second half of the 2023-24 season.
Should Real Madrid pursue Erling Haaland over Kylian Mbappé?
Former Real Madrid striker Alfonso Pérez Muñoz weighed in on what Los Blancos should do regarding Mbappé. While the Frenchman would be that superstar that the Spanish side enjoys having, Muñoz doesn’t believe the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner is the right choice if he had to pick between him and Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.
“If it had to be just one, because of the profile Madrid needs, it would be Haaland,” Muñoz said (h/t Le10Sport). “I think Mbappé is the best in the world, but they have Vinicius and Rodrygo in this position.
“But I would have signed a striker, apart from Joselu. I love [Karim] Benzema, and his years at Madrid since [the] departure [of Cristiano Ronaldo] have been exceptional, but Bellingham, along with Vinicius, Rodrygo, Brahim, and Joselu, fill the void he left.”
Furthermore, it seems unlikely that the PSG player’s representatives will be influenced to decide his future based on a deadline the La Liga side has set. If PSG advances to the UEFA Champions League knockout stage, it’s hard to envision Mbappé deciding while in the competition.
I completely agree with this opinion
