Paris Saint-Germain advanced to the UEFA Champions League round of 16 by the slightest of margins. Nonetheless, the capital club progressed to the knockout stage, and now the next topic is who they will face.

The Champions League round of 16 draw will occur on Monday. PSG has a date with either of these clubs: Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Real Sociedad, Atletico Madrid, Manchester City, or FC Barcelona.

So, which club is the ideal matchup for the Ligue 1 side? CBS Sports’ Jonathan Johnson appeared on a recent episode of PSG Talking and noted that Atletico Madrid presents the more interesting matchup.

“In terms of the best matchup, I actually think that a team like Atletico Madrid, especially this new Atleti, that’s quite attack-minded,” Johnson said. “I think that could be a really interesting matchup.

“Obviously, Luis Enrique and Diego Simeone know each other well from their time coaching against each other, and I think it would be a really entertaining game. Don’t think it would be too difficult for PSG away from home as it would do maybe in some of the other potential matchups.”

PSG manager Luis Enrique knows Atletico Madrid well from his coaching stint with Barcelona, and having to face Argentine boss Diego Simeone, he’d go up against a familiar opponent.

Nonetheless, the recent percentages have come out, and PSG will likely face Bayern Munich and either Arsenal or Manchester City to open up the knockout stage.
