Real Madrid, PSG Chase as Mbappé Brushes Off Saudi Transfer Talks

A Saudi Pro League chief recently spoke about the league’s interest in luring Kylian Mbappé away from Europe. The 25-year-old will become a free agent in June 2024 and can sign a pre-contract with any club in a few days.

Despite having the freedom to talk with any club once the calendar turns to 2024, it doesn’t appear that the winger wants to make any drastic decisions. While the Saudis want to turn the football world upside down, landing the Frenchman is a pipe dream.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Le10Sport) reports that while there have been former French teammates on the national team heading to Saudi Arabia, like Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kanté, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner isn’t following that path.

It seems like the decision will come down to Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. The Spanish giants have their deadline for Jan. 15; meanwhile, the Ligue 1 giants are also pushing to keep Mbappé.

Paris has evaluated two project scenarios – one involving Mbappé and the other excluding him. As a result, the ball is in his court to see if he wants to continue at PSG.
