Manuel Ugarte is in his first few months with Paris Saint-Germain. The midfielder had a decision to make this past summer: either head to the French capital or sign with Chelsea.
The Blues were the other team looking to land the 22-year-old. However, it was PSG that eventually won the race for Ugarte. In a recent interview with PSG TV, the former Sporting CP player noted that he made the right decision to join the Ligue 1 side.
“I spoke to Cavani about it when he was with the national team. He told me about the atmosphere here and the passion of the fans,” Ugarte said (h/t Paris Fans). “I always say that as soon as I arrived, I saw how much Cavani was appreciated by the fans here. I’m 100 percent convinced that coming here was the best choice.”
There have been some good moments and other times when traveling from South America to Europe affected his performances. Nonetheless, now that there’s no international break, Ugarte could probably get back on track.
PSG will need the best of Ugarte next week when they enter a must-win match against Borussia Dortmund. A victory punches their ticket to the knockout stages and allows them to claim first place in the Group of Death.
