Paris Saint-Germain had to do scoreboard-watching during their 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night at Signal Iduna Park. Furthermore, manager Luis Enrique offered his reaction when AC Milan took the lead over Newcastle United.
It wasn’t PSG’s night, as the capital club squandered various scoring chances in the first half. Afterward, in the second half, Dortmund opened the scoring, and Newcastle registered the first goal against AC Milan.
Nonetheless, the Ligue 1 side’s luck began to come as Warren Zaire-Emery scored the game-tying goal, and Christian Pulisic leveled the scoring against the Magpies. AC Milan would take the lead and win, which put PSG in the knockout stages.
Luis Enrique had to adjust his gameplan late
PSG faced the UEFA Europa League right in the face again and somehow avoided dropping down. In a postgame interview with RMC Sport, Luis Enrique provided his honest reaction when he learned that AC Milan had taken a 2-1 lead over the Premier League club.
“Until the 85th minute, we weren’t worried about all that (Newcastle vs Milan),” Enrique told the French media outlet. “When we learned that AC Milan had scored and taken the lead, that changed things. We decided to keep the ball more and not take excessive risks.”
