Kylian Mbappé Saga: Real Madrid Has No Desire to Look Foolish

Real Madrid have looked foolish in the past while pursuing Kylian Mbappé. As a result, a French journalist states that not wanting to be the butt of another joke is part of why the Spanish side is standing firm with their interest.

The latest came in 2022 when many assumed the Spanish giants would secure the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner. However, Mbappé signed a contract extension, leaving Los Blancos at the alter again.

Despite rejections, Real Madrid wants Kylian Mbappé

Journalist Frédéric Hermel spoke with RMC Sport and noted the latest information he has from Real Madrid’s side. The La Liga side wants to land the Frenchman, but they’re cautiously proceeding.

“Real Madrid has given up on putting itself forward for Mbappé,” Hermel said (h/t Le10Sport). “To have discussed it with people who matter, Real has not forgotten Mbappé. The door remains open for Mbappé.

“However, the strategy has changed. Real no longer wants to be on the front line and be the turkey of the joke if Mbappé extends with PSG. By withdrawing, Real will not look like fools.”

Los Blancos reportedly have a deadline for the Frenchman to decide on their proposal. According to reports, it’s 15 days to decide whether to accept their pre-contract offer. Whatever transpires during the January window, Mbappé will reportedly stay with PSG until the end of the 2023-24 season.

The vacancy is for a centre striker – and MBappe is is not one. If we get it is because we can.
