Journalist Reveals Lucas Beraldo’s Impact on PSG’s Defensive Fortitude

Transfer window expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Paris Saint-Germain plans to sign Lucas Beraldo from São Paulo FC for €20 million without any add-ons.

So what would the Brazilian center-back bring to the capital club once he steps into the squad? Le Parisien spoke with Brazilian journalist Gabriel Sà regarding the type of player PSG will be getting.

Sà provided information about the characteristics of the defender, who PSG will count on to strengthen their backline for the busy second half of the 2023-24 season.

“[Beraldo] is a defender who has delighted the fans and Brazilian football, surely the club’s greatest rise since Breno transferred to Bayern Munich in 2007,” Sà said (h/t Paris Fans). “He moved into the team after the injury of Nahuel Ferraresi, a player of the Venezuelan national team, and never left.

“He is above average. He is the goalkeeper of the defense, a very calm player, and difficult to disarm in one-on-one. It’s THE nice surprise of São Paulo this season.”

PSG will have the UEFA Champions League, Coupe de France, and Ligue 1 race for the first few months of 2024. The capital club has to rotate its squad to keep players fresh and prevent any injury, especially if Luis Enrique and Co. want to go deep in the Champions League and domestic cup.

All eyes will be on Beraldo to see if he can quickly adapt to the European game.
