Incredible Stat: PSG Outshines All But Real Madrid, Manchester City in UCL

Paris Saint-Germain’s 2023-24 UEFA Champions League group stage was frustrating from a goal-scoring perspective. However, the goals should’ve been higher than the end result for the Ligue 1 side.

The capital club only scored nine goals during their six Group F matches. While the French giants advanced in second place, they could’ve finished first had a couple of results gone their way.

FBref.com highlights that PSG finished 3rd in xG in this group phase while having the 11th attack. Paris put in the ingredients to finish first but did not conclude. Furthermore, only two clubs had a higher xG than Luis Enrique’s side: Manchester City and Real Madrid.

Ahead of the round of 16, the Parisians’ ability to generate chances is a positive sign. The question is whether the squad can find their finishing boots to advance to the quarterfinals without this problem lingering into the new year.

The Champions League draw will occur on Monday, and PSG will see which club it needs to prepare for in the coming weeks ahead of the clash in February.
