French Pride: Aulas Urges Kylian Mbappé to Resist Real Madrid’s Call

Former Olympique Lyonnais President Jean-Michel Aulas was recently elected vice president of the French Football Federation (FFF). Furthermore, Aulas commented on the Kylian Mbappé transfer saga.

The 24-year-old can sign a pre-contract with any club once the calendar turns to 2024. All eyes are on Real Madrid to see their stance regarding the Frenchman.

Reports suggest that Real Madrid has set a deadline of January 15 for Mbappé to agree to their deal. However, with Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League round of 16, he likely won’t decide on his future next month.

Now that Aulas is inside the French federation, he wants the 24-year-old to remain in Ligue 1 and reject Real Madrid.

“I want him to stay in the French championship,” Aulas said (h/t Le10Sport). “He’s the best current player.”

These remarks are odd, considering Aulas didn’t hesitate to sell a Lyon player to the Spanish giants. Still, many PSG fans hope his comments come true, and Mbappé stays with the French giants long-term as the center of this new project.
