Real Madrid aims to usher in a new era in La Liga with exciting new talents, and Kylian Mbappé is one of them. However, attempting to land the Paris Saint-Germain star has proven to be problematic in the past.
As the January transfer window approaches, the saga involving the Frenchman will again ramp up. Nonetheless, former Real Madrid player Fernando Morientes believes that Los Blancos will remain unphased even if the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner rejects the Spanish side again.
“In these cases, negotiations are very complicated,” Morientes told Madridista Real (h/t Bernabeu Digital). “I know this type of negotiation, in which many actors who are neither the club nor the player are involved. The clear thing is that he finishes his contract and I would like to see him in the white shirt. But if he doesn’t come, nothing will happen. Real Madrid has been a giant without Mbappé, and it would be just as big with him.”
Is all the pressure on Real Madrid?
Everyone will have their eyes on Real Madrid to see if they stand firm with their no-nonsense stance. According to reports, the Spanish side will have a 15-day deadline once they put the pre-contract on the table for the soon-to-be free agent next June.
As for PSG, the French giants are more concerned with improving the squad during the January transfer window. It appears that the Parisians are content to let events unfold as they may.
