A recent report linked Chelsea, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain to AC Milan shot-stopper Mike Maignan. The Serie A side is currently talking with the Frenchman over an extension.
The information from Foot Mercato revealed that the Italian giants are still discussing a new contract with Maignan, whose contract expires in 2026. Talks between the two sides should go smoothly, as the goalkeeper is happy in Italy.
Fabrizio Romano rules out Manchester United for Mike Maignan
In his column for CaughtOffside, transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano echoed that the 28-year-old goalkeeper is happy playing for Milan. Furthermore, he’s ruling out the Red Devils pursuing the 2022 FIFA World Cup runner-up.
“I wanted to start by clarifying some Manchester United transfer rumors involving a new goalkeeper signing, with some fans asking me about the reports linking them with AC Milan’s Mike Maignan,” Romano wrote.
“Man United just invested €55m on Andre Onana in the summer, so there’s nothing else in terms of targets or negotiations. Zero. Man United are not working on a deal for Maignan and also the player is very happy at Milan. There’s really zero to this story at this stage.”
This past summer, the capital club drastically changed its transfer policy. PSG secured more French talent, bringing in players like Lucas Hernandez, Randal Kolo Muani, Bradley Barcola, and Ousmane Dembélé.
As a result, the Parisians could take this approach with the goalkeeping position should Maignan decide to leave Milan.
