Expert: Ex-Barcelona Goalie Could Raise Doubts in PSG over Donnarumma

Arnau Ténas made his Ligue 1 debut for Paris Saint-Germain in an unusual way. The 22-year-old wasn’t scheduled to start for the capital club in their contest against Le Havre last Sunday.

The former FC Barcelona goalkeeper had to jump into action after Gianluigi Donnarumma received a red card less than 10 minutes into the game. Despite not preparing to be the starter, he impressed in his outing.

As a result, CBS Sports’ Jonathan Johnson weighed in on the current goalkeeping situation at PSG as Donnarumma continues to be under the criticism microscope.

Is it time to start Arnau Ténas?

Ténas will get a bit of a runway to be the PSG start, with Donarumma suspended for two Ligue 1 matches due to his red card. The question now is whether this will turn into a controversy as the Spaniard impressed against Le Havre.

“Tenas was brought in this past summer because he was a smart opportunity for PSG, given that he was a free agent and capable of playing in the style that Luis Enrique is bringing to the team,” Johnson wrote in his PSG Talk column

“We should finally get an extended look at the 22-year-old over the coming games with Donnarumma suspended, and those performances could start to sew further seeds of doubt over the Italian.”

It will be interesting to see if Ténas again performs well against FC Nantes, whether manager Luis Enrique rides the hot hand into the must-win UEFA Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund or returns to Donnarumma.
