Arnau Ténas is central to much conversation regarding Paris Saint-Germain’s goalkeeping situation. He made his Ligue 1 debut for Paris Saint-Germain in an unusual way.
The 22-year-old wasn’t scheduled to start for the capital club in their contest against Le Havre last Sunday. The former FC Barcelona goalkeeper had to jump into action after Gianluigi Donnarumma received a red card less than 10 minutes into the game.
Despite not preparing to be the starter, he impressed in his outing. Now, some are asking what the ceiling is for the Spanish international.
An ex-trainer reveals sadness that Arnau Ténas left Barcelona
The hype around Ténas grows after he made seven decisive saves to deliver a clean sheet, and 10-man PSG won at Le Havre 2-0. The performance has some in Spain having second thoughts about the Catalan side allowing him to leave as a free agent.
“His departure from Barça surprised me,” the trainer told Le Parisien. “But he has a strong character, a desire to play all the time… He’s very competitive, very extroverted. That makes him very brave once he’s in goal. He knows his role.”
