Paris Saint-Germain right-back Achraf Hakimi recently reached a significant milestone in his career with the French giants. The 25-year-old reflected on his time with the Ligue 1 side, which began in 2021.
In an interview with PSG TV, Hakimi was asked about the top five moments he’s experienced with the Parisians since coming over from Inter Milan. One of the best moments he chose was playing against his boyhood club, Real Madrid, in 2022.
“My last moment is also very important for the context, the supporters, and the atmosphere,” Hakimi said (h/t Paris Fans). “It was a special match we played at home against Real Madrid. It was a special, unique match where we played well and scored in the last minute.
“It’s one of my fondest memories with this jersey. This goal is a joy that I enjoy with my teammates and friends. The fans supported us the whole match; it’s a round of 16, and the celebration at the last minute is magnificent.”
The match didn’t go PSG’s way, as mental mistakes hindered them from advancing past the Spanish giants despite having the lead on aggregate. Hakimi and the squad will return to play in Spain for the UEFA Champions League round of 16.
PSG will play against Real Sociedad, with the first leg occurring on Valentine’s Day at the Pace des Princes. If the French giants advance, they could play Real Madrid in the quarterfinals for a rematch and possibly a different outcome.
