Why Real Madrid Isn’t Losing Sleep Over Mbappé’s Decision, Journalist Says

The January transfer window is weeks away from opening, and the Kylian Mbappé-Real Madrid rumors are beginning to spread like wildfire. Once the calendar turns to 2024, the 24-year-old can talk with the Spanish giants or any other club on a pre-contract that begins next season.

While reports from Spain initially revealed that the La Liga side is ruling out pursuing the Frenchman, that’s not the case. Los Blancos remain in the race for the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner.

However, Spanish journalist Ramon Alvarez de Mon states that Real Madrid doesn’t see not landing Mbappé next year as a tragedy. He says they’re happy with their core of players, whether that includes the PSG winger or not.

“Real Madrid have not ruled out signing Mbappé,” Alvarez de Mon said (h/t Le10Sport). “Another thing is what I’ve been telling you for a long time: there’s no longer this enthusiasm to say, ‘We have to sign him no matter what.’ There is no longer that feeling.

“Now we tell you that we have Vinicius [Junior] and [Jude] Bellingham, who are very good. If Mbappé does not accept the conditions that will be offered to him, it will not be an absolute tragedy.”

Regardless of where he goes, a report would suggest that Mbappé has set forth two non-negotiable demands. The first is that Mbappé seeks assurance that he can actively represent France in the 2024 Olympic Games held in Paris.

Finally, the second is that he wishes to delay the finalization of his move until March or April. It will be interesting to see if Real Madrid, PSG, or any other club meets these demands.
