Vitinha on Connection with Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembelé’s First PSG Goal

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Vitinha was one of the goal scorers in the 5-2 win over AS Monaco on Friday night at the Parc des Princes. The Ligue 1 side will now turn the page and focus on Newcastle United for their UEFA Champions League clash.

The Portugal international connected with Kylian Mbappé on the goal, and in the postgame comments, Vitinha spoke about his connection with the Frenchman, especially on the fourth PSG goal.

“On the occasion of my goal, I received the ball from Mbappé; I saw the goal, kicked, and scored,” Vitinha said (h/t Tuttomercatoweb). “Tactically, we both understand each other well. If he is more inside the pitch, I stay more to the side, and vice versa. PSG have an excellent way of playing. All our attackers have scored.”

Furthermore, Vitinha offered his take on seeing his other teammate, Ousmane Dembelé, score his first PSG goal and get that boulder off his back. The 26-year-old has become a creator for the capital club so far in this 2023-24 season. However, the Parisians will welcome Dembelé’s goal-scoring.

“I’m especially happy for Ousmane Dembelé,” Vitinha added. “He makes it feel good to score for himself and for the team. I hope this is a good sign. It’s too early to say that we’ve killed the championship.”

PSG will look to avenge the lopsided 4-1 loss in October at St. James’ Park. What does benefit the Parisians is that Newcastle won’t have that rush of people behind them. Both squads are coming off convincing wins, so it will be interesting to see if the capital club can secure all three points.
