Real Madrid issued a statement on Saturday denying that they’re not in negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain winger Kylian Mbappé. The announcement might have caught some off guard. Nonetheless, there was a reason for this to come out.
After reports out of Spain claimed the Spanish giants had agreed to a contract with the 24-year-old, they likely had to put out the fire before the situation got out of hand.
Nonetheless, El Chiringuito’s Josep Pedrerol says that Real Madrid needed to put out a statement to avoid any demand from PSG. Still, once the January transfer window opens, the La Liga side will jump on pursuing the Frenchman.

Recently, French sports daily L’Equipe has reported that a source inside Real Madrid has made it abundantly apparent where the club’s president, Florentino Perez, stands on Mbappé.
According to this source, Perez focuses squarely on the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner. Additionally, he’s relegating Erling Haaland to the shadows as the Spanish giants continue their pursuit of the PSG winger.
“If Florentino Perez makes a big effort for a player, it will only be for Mbappé,” the source told L’Equipe. “Not Haaland. He’s obsessed with Mbappé.”
