The Mbappé Effect? Lucas Hernandez’s Tells All About Bayern Munich to PSG Move

Paris Saint-Germain’s Lucas Hernandez recently shed light on an intriguing facet of his transfer to the French capital. The 27-year-old arrived from Bayern Munich this past summer and noted someone was attempting to recruit him: Kylian Mbappé.

Hernandez spoke with Le Parisien and unveiled that Mbappé, his national team teammate, played a pivotal role in his decision to join the French capital’s football powerhouse.

“I talked about this transfer quite a bit with Kylian because I get along very well with him,” Hernandez said (h/t RMC Sport). “These are little texts [and] calls to see how I feel at Bayern. One day, he asked me if I was open to coming, and he told me that he was going to do everything to convince me.

“Above all, he wrote to me after my injury (rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in my right knee at the 2022 World Cup) to find out how things were going. And then, when the little rumors started to come out in the press, he called to ask my opinion.”

According to reports, PSG had paid Bayern Munich a fee of €45 million plus add-ons for the Frenchman. Hernandez has been a savior at the left-back position for the Ligue 1 side this 2023-24 season.

With Nuno Mendes’ injury, the Parisians could look for another left-back this January transfer window to aid Hernandez and not burn him out. Furthermore, he’s flexible and can play the center-back role if needed this season.

It’s Year 1 for Hernandez now in France, but so far, this signing appears to be an outstanding one.
