Neymar Jr. was in the news on Wednesday in the French media after a report from L’Equipe revealed that the Brazilian arrived in 2017 already compromised. According to the report, the former No. 10 had an injured foot.
The information adds that the capital club’s belief that the stress fracture wouldn’t worsen over time proved misplaced. Unfortunately, Neymar’s serious injury against Strasbourg began a tumultuous period.
However, RMC Sport’s Jérôme Rothen has other information from the initial reporting. He shared his report that Neymar arrived from FC Barcelona healthy with no injuries.
“I am not saying that it is false, but I have another opinion,” Rothen said on Rothen s’enflamme. “Coming out of the files six years later and saying that he had a stress fracture, which explains his first injury, it’s false, entirely false.
“There was no amateurism or anything. The management or medical staff were sometimes wrong, but not in this case. Just remember Neymar’s first year.”
Neymar suffered significant injuries, the most serious of which occurred to his right foot. The Brazilian notably sustained a fracture of the fifth metatarsal in February 2018, with a relapse in the same spot in January 2019.
He had ankle surgery last March after an injury contracted during the World Cup 2022 in Qatar. Neymar is now 31 years old and currently in Saudi Arabia with Al-Hilal. Furthermore, he’s facing another extended period away from the field.
This time, it is due to a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, adding a new layer of injury battles to his career.
