With Lionel Messi back in Paris this week for the Ballon d’Or ceremony, his two seasons in the French capital were again a topic of discussion. The Argentine also reflected on his time with Paris Saint-Germain.
Nonetheless, when the 36-year-old had to give a speech after winning his eighth Ballon d’Or, he omitted PSG from the address to the crowd. A recent report revealed the Ligue 1 giants weren’t surprised.
RMC Sport’s Stephen Brun weighed in on whether Messi misses Paris and what would’ve shocked him in the player’s speech. The 2022 FIFA World Cup winner noted the challenge of leaving over the summer. The veteran signed with Inter Miami, and he now continues his career in the MLS.
“What did you expect?” Brun said on the Super Moscato Show. “He didn’t want to be there; he didn’t create anything; PSG was Basic Fit; he kept in shape to be a world champion. What would have been surprising is for him to say thank you to PSG.”

L’Equipe recently revealed that the relationship between Messi and PSG is strained. As a result, it explains the petty shots that the Inter Miami star has taken since departing. It will be interesting to see whether time heals this on both sides or if this is how the entire situation is going to be going forward.
