PSG’s Luis Campos Reveals the Impact of Kang-in Lee On and Off the Pitch

Paris Saint-Germain might have struck gold with their summer addition of Kang-in Lee. The Ligue 1 side’s sporting advisor, Luis Campos, recently spoke about the behind-the-scenes details that led to the South Korean’s arrival.

Campos told Le Parisien he had invested considerable effort to secure the acquisition. Beyond the economic constraints, Campos admired Lee’s playing style, highlighting the alignment with his tactical preferences.

Furthermore, the club chief notes that despite facing financial constraints that imposed a ceiling on the transfer fee, he recognized the sporting value the South Korean midfielder could bring to the team.

“I worked a lot to get Kang-in Lee at PSG,” Campos told the French media outlet. “The economic part told me not to exceed a certain price/fee. Sportingly, I like Kang-in Lee a lot. He fits into what [manager Luis Enrique] wanted. But I didn’t think he would have any impact on marketing in Asia.”

While the economic and sporting aspects were critical in the decision-making process, Campos also acknowledged another dimension—the potential impact on Asian marketing.

This facet reflects the broader strategy of football clubs in the contemporary era, where the global appeal of players can significantly influence the club’s brand and commercial opportunities.

As a result, the successful acquisition of Kang-in Lee thus represents a harmonious blend of economic prudence, sportive vision, and an understanding of the commercial landscape.
