This past weekend, Real Madrid issued a statement to clarify that they’re not negotiating with Kylian Mbappé. Los Blancos reportedly made this move to avoid tampering issues with Paris Saint-Germain.
PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi recently spoke with Gazzetta dello Sport, and the topic of the press release came up. The Italian media outlet asked the club chief whether he saw that statement. Nonetheless, he provided an honest take.
“I have not seen Madrid’s statement, nor have I read it,” Al Khelaifi said (h/t Fichajes). “We are only interested in our work and not what others do.”
With the January transfer window nearing, the rumor mill surrounding the 24-year-old is off and running. As soon as the calendar turns to 2024, Real Madrid and any other club can talk with the Frenchman over a pre-contract.
All eyes will be on what the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner will do with his future. Mbappé will become a free agent in June 2024, and Real Madrid feels this is finally the year they land the winger.
Meanwhile, PSG remains calm about the entire situation, hoping they can secure their star player for the future.
