Ousmane Dembélé might be entering the best stage of his brief Paris Saint-Germain career. The 26-year-old has become a creator and has tallied a few assists so far this 2023-24 season.
However, in the 5-2 win over AS Monaco on Friday night, Dembélé registered his first PSG goal in impressive fashion. If PSG is going to advance to the UEFA Champions League knockout stages, having the Frenchman play at a top level will be helpful.
Ahead of the match against Newcastle United, Dembélé spoke on Téléfoot about his current form. After moving from FC Barcelona this past summer, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner appears to be enjoying himself.
“I’m happy to be in the same club as Kylian!” Dembélé told the French media outlet (h/t Le10Sport). “There is also Kolo Muani, Lucas Hernandez, and quite a few players with whom I play in the France team. Now there’s Warren [Zaire-Emery], too. I’m happy to be with them in the club. We are trying to give the maximum so that PSG wins a lot of trophies this year.
“In recent weeks, I am happy with my performances with Paris Saint-Germain. I’m gradually gaining strength, and I hope I will continue like this. The goal was important, but I prefer to have good matches, even without scoring. Afterwards, I’m happy to have scored. I try to create a lot of chances, to make assists or score goals.”
It might have taken some time for Dembélé to find his footing, but PSG could be getting the best version of the winger at a crucial time heading into the final weeks of 2023.
Will it be enough to see PSG advance? It will be interesting to find out.
