Manchester City and West Ham United Set Sights on PSG Transfer Target – Report

Paris Saint-Germain will reportedly look for a left-back once the January transfer window opens. However, the capital club could face competition for one recent target linked to PSG, FC Nantes’ Quentin Merlin.

The Ligue 1 giants want a left-back as Nuno Mendes is out for four months after having surgery on a hamstring injury. Currently, Lucas Hernandez plays left-back, but there’s not much depth behind him.

With PSG now looking to add more top French talent, Merlin makes sense for a target. Nonetheless, 90min reported on Friday, citing sources, that Manchester City and West Ham United are among several teams that are tracking the progress of Merlin.

Both Premier League clubs want to add depth at left-back. As a result, they have already sent representatives to France to watch over Merlin at least once this season.

Apart from PSG and the Premier League clubs, Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig, Napoli, and Celtic have all kept an eye on him in recent months as well.

The 21-year-old quickly established himself as a vital starter for the Ligue 1 side after being promoted from the youth ranks. He notably helped them win the Coupe de France in 2022.

Merlin is under contract with the French club until 2026 and has set the bar at €10 million for the fee. However, with several clubs reportedly eyeing the player, that price could increase.
