Lucas Hernandez on PSG’s Approach to the Crucial Borussia Dortmund Clash

The mission for Paris Saint-Germain for their final group stage match against Borussia Dortmund is straightforward: secure a victory to advance to the knockout stage.

However, the Parisians have yet to win on the road. So, it’s a challenging task for the Ligue 1 side. Nonetheless, knowing what’s at stake against the Bundesliga club, maybe it’s time to take a different approach.

PSG fell to Newcastle United and AC Milan on the road. As a result, Lucas Hernandez stated the approach the French giants must take to secure the win on Dec. 13.

“It was an incredible match,” Hernandez told the club’s official website (h/t Canal Supporters). “In matches like this, you go into the locker room and say to yourself, ‘How is it possible not to have won this match?’ We had, I don’t know how many chances… But hey, it’s part of the game, it’s part of football.

“Sometimes the ball doesn’t want to go in. There are evenings like that, like today. But hey, at least we know that with this draw, if we win against Dortmund, we will qualify and win the group. It’s up to us to play. It will be another final. It will be a big meeting. We know that we have a chance there in Dortmund by snatching this draw.

“It’s up to us to stay calm in our heads. We had a very good match from start to finish. They scored this goal in the first half; after that, we didn’t stop pushing and attacking. Today, the ball didn’t want to go in; that’s the reality. Now it’s up to us to continue working for this match in Dortmund.”

Hernandez and Co. were given a scare on Tuesday night as they faced the possibility of dropping to the UEFA Europa League. Nonetheless, a controversial penalty call allowed Kylian Mbappé to convert a penalty kick in stoppage time for the 1-1 draw.

Will this scare motivate PSG to come out with a lit fire underneath them, or is a disastrous result incoming?
