Paris Saint-Germain said goodbye to the philosophy of recruiting star players such as Neymar Jr., Lionel Messi, and Sergio Ramos. This past summer, the capital club eyed French talent who would take pride in playing for PSG.
The Ligue 1 giants brought in Bradley Barcola, Lucas Hernandez, Ousmane Dembélé, and Randal Kolo Muani. Furthermore, this move from PSG isn’t getting lost on other French players, especially those from the Greater Paris Area.
Liverpool FC defender Ibrahima Konaté recently spoke with Canal Plus. The 24-year-old expressed his joy at seeing more French talent at PSG.
“PSG today recruited players who get along well, who play in the national team together,” Konaté said (h/t Paris Fans). “Even for Parisian fans, it’s what they’ve been waiting for for years to have Parisians and French people in the team.”
Furthermore, in the same interview, the French media outlet asked whether he’d ever consider playing in his hometown. While Konaté remains focused on what the Reds are doing, as he’s under contract until 2026, the Frenchman didn’t rule out the possibility.
Whether they pursue him if he becomes a free agent or pay a transfer fee, Konaté would be a welcome addition.
