Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappé can begin talks with any club over a pre-contract once the calendar turns to 2024, with Real Madrid being of apparent interest.
As the January transfer window opens in a few weeks, Spanish journalist José Álvarez revealed the latest on his end regarding the La Liga club’s pursuit of Mbappé on El Chiringuito’s Twitch channel.
He notes that these next few weeks could bring significant news about this saga. Real Madrid seems to want to wrap up this signing during the January window and not let it leak out into the remaining part of the 2023-24 season.
“In three weeks, something big is going to happen with Mbappé,” Álvarez said (h/t Defensa Central). “Mbappé only wants to play for Real Madrid next season. It is not in his plans to renew with PSG.
“The forward puts his future in the hands of Florentino. He has already bought a house in Madrid. Mbappé believes that the summer of 2024 is the time to arrive at Real Madrid.”
It will be interesting to see how this transfer saga plays out. Before deciding, Mbappé’s decision will likely depend on how PSG does in the UEFA Champions League.
Recent news out of Spain would indicate that Real Madrid is ruling out pursuing the Parisian as a free agent next year. Even though reports from one Spanish outlet say Real Madrid is out of the race, a report in France says otherwise.
One French platform debunked the news, noting that the La Liga side is very much in the race. In the coming weeks, we can expect conflicting information as we move into 2024.
