Paris Saint-Germain decided this past summer to put Kylian Mbappé at the center of their project. The capital club opted to steer away from the big-name players and build a team that could compete.
The Parisians hope that Mbappé sees this project as something he wants to be part of and notices the potential despite it being Year 1 under manager Luis Enrique.
Mbappé will have a decision to make in the coming months. He’ll be a free agent next June and can begin signing a pre-contract once the calendar turns 2024.
How can PSG hold onto Kylian Mbappé?
L’Équipe journalist Loic Tanzi spoke to talkSPORT and noted what can keep Mbappé playing with his hometown club. Real Madrid and possibly Liverpool are showing interest in the 24-year-old, suggesting he could be on the move.
However, Tanzi notes that the project might be enticing enough for the Frenchman to see it out rather than jump ship.
“So I think they can convince him to stay because the new project is just made around him, and that’s what he wants to do,” Tanzi told the English media outlet. “He wants responsibility; he wants to be the key player of the team, and he wants just to be able to feel that the club can do it.
“If it doesn’t feel that club can win the Champions League, he would leave. But if he feels that everything is made around him to win the Champions League, he will stay.”
