Ex-Player Reveals How Kylian Mbappé Can Channel Messi and Ronaldo’s Prowess

Paris Saint-Germain winger Kylian Mbappé made history as part of France’s epic 14-0 beatdown of Gibraltar last Saturday. The 24-year-old completed his hat-trick with a fantastic goal to cap off his night.

Furthermore, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner scored his 300th goal in the process. After hitting this personal milestone in his career, there’s plenty of discussion regarding what the future holds for the PSG star.

Former French footballer and manager Jean-Pierre Papin spoke about what the future holds for Mbappé, and he sees the winger following the same path as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Papin explains that the forward will be able to adapt to any situation.

“How high can he go?” Thousand,” Papin told L’Equipe (h/t Le10Sport). “No, I’m overdoing it… But Kylian is the one who will decide, quite simply. To be around him a little, I know he breathes football and prepares well.

“It’s like talking about [Lionel] Messi and [Cristiano] Ronaldo: since the age of 16, they have played every match. These guys are just on another planet, and Kylian is a part of that. I wish him to double his total goals within four or five years. Yes, and he’s smart enough to do it. He may lose a little speed, but he will still be faster than many.

“A player with his game intelligence will play shots differently, with the experience of someone who has experienced these situations dozens, hundreds of times, by moving at the right time, in the right areas. And then, something must not be forgotten. It is his last gesture. And he will always have that.”

The January transfer window is close to opening, so the French national team captain will have a decision to make on his career. Mbappé can talk with any club over a pre-contract and whether he wants to go elsewhere or continue with his hometown club.
