Champions League: Vitinha Gives Honest Take on PSG’s Peformance vs. AC Milan

Paris Saint-Germain fell 2-1 on the road again in the UEFA Champions League. The capital club lost this time to AC Milan on Tuesday at San Siro, and Vitinha was critical of the team’s performance.

After PSG secured a 1-0 lead early in the contest, it didn’t take long for the Serie A side to respond. Rafael Leão scored the game-tying goal minutes later. Afterward, the Italian club took the lead, coming off the header of Olivier Giroud.

Vitinha noted what went wrong for the Ligue 1 side that didn’t allow them to walk out with one or three points.

“We had a difficult match with the atmosphere and everything,” Vitinha told Canal Plus (h/t Foot Mercato). “But we must do better. We didn’t manage to play our game. We got into Milan’s game. They didn’t give us control. We wanted to control the match in the second half.

“The goal (from Giroud) changed everything. Our idea of playing must remain the same, but it’s hard to find the spaces and have the patience for the second goal. It’s still hot; it’s hard to have a precise opinion, but it’s sad.”

The Parisians are currently in second place in Group F with six points, ahead of AC Milan (five points) and Newcastle United (six points). Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund holds the top spot with seven points.

These final two matches will be crucial to see who advances. From PSG’s perspective, they still control their destiny. All they need to do is win both games, and the squad can punch their ticket to the Champions League knockout stages.
