Paris Saint-Germain missed a massive opportunity to inch closer to clinching a spot in the UEFA Champions League knockout stage. The capital club fell 2-1 to AC Milan on Matchday 4 at San Siro.
The Ligue 1 side opened the scoring after a Milan Skriniar header goal to make it 1-0. It felt like the Parisians would pick up where they left off with their 3-0 win on Matchday 3.
However, the Ligue 1 side gave up their early lead minutes later after a goal from Rafael Leão. AC Milan would get the deciding goal coming off the header of Olivier Giroud.
While PSG still controls their destiny in these final two Champions League matchdays, the loss feels like a disappointment in the eyes of Kylian Mbappé.
“It’s a defeat, it hurts,” Mbappé told PSG TV. “But we have to look forward. We still have our destiny in our hands, and we’re going to do everything we can to win at home and give ourselves some breathing space in this group.”
PSG are currently in second place in Group F with six points, ahead of AC Milan (five points) and Newcastle United (six points). Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund holds the top spot with seven points. Buckle up, everyone. It’s going to be a wild ride to finish the Champions League.
