Zaïre-Emery and Barcelona’s Young Talent Share Striking Resemblance, Expert Says

Warren Zaïre-Emery has put himself in the conversation with some of the top young players in European football. The 17-year-old registered two assists in Paris Saint-Germain’s 3-0 win over AC Milan on Wednesday at the Parc des Princes.

Even though the Frenchman has had quality performances, it was the match against the Serie A giants that many in the football media and casual viewers took notice of. ESPN FC’s Gabriele Marcotti reacted to the teenager on the latest “Gab and Juls Show.”

Marcotti noted that when he sees Zaïre-Emery on the pitch, he doesn’t notice that the midfielder has yet to turn 18. Furthermore, that same feeling comes to mind when he sees one of FC Barcelona’s talented young players, Lamine Yamal.

“[Zaïre-Emery] does not look 17 in terms of the way he plays,” Marcotti said. “It’s a bit like Lamine Yamal. The dude does not look like a 16-year-old. Yeah, I was a little bit surprised. I know Luis Enrique has no issue with kids and stuff like that, but to kind of go and hand him the keys to the midfield the way he’s done thus far is pretty remarkable.

It will be interesting to see how all their careers play out. Both players are barely getting their feet wet in first-team football, but it seems the sky is the limit for their potential.
