The Kylian Mbappé-Real Madrid transfer saga is beginning to heat up as the January transfer window inches closer. Los Blancos want the Frenchman, and while they’ve been burned in the past, could next year be different?
Real Madrid wants to learn from the past. As a result, the Spanish club reportedly wants guarantees from the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner. Furthermore, they could have Plan B’s if they fail to land Mbappé.
Nonetheless, OK Diario’s Ivan Martin (h/t Le10Sport) reveals that the La Liga side remains calm about the winger, who could head to the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium after this 2023-24 season.
“In Madrid, they still believe in his word that he will not renew his contract with PSG and that he will leave free,” Marin said. “Plus, if he leaves for free, there are other suitors who put more money on the table than Real Madrid. At the club, they understand that it would be very difficult for this to happen, but in principle, the club is calm.”
According to Martin, Real Madrid is taking Mbappé at his that he will leave PSG. This belief in the winger could be why Real Madrid is calm despite Premier League clubs possibly getting into the race.
“There is no fear at Real Madrid,” Marin added. In Madrid, they are calm because we continue to trust Mbappé’s word. A lot can be said about the player, and I understand that many things are said, but he is clear.
“He stayed when he spoke this summer and said he was staying at PSG. When he said something had changed in the spring of 2022, so much had changed. When he speaks, he doesn’t have the habit of lying.”
It will be interesting to see what Mbappé and his camp decide to do. PSG have put the forward at the center of their project this season. If the Ligue 1 side can advance to the UEFA Champions League knockout stage and make a deep run, it could convince him to stay.
