Paris Saint-Germain had a shift in transfer philosophy this past summer transfer window. The capital club was eyeing young players eager to prove themselves and fight for the badge. One player they identified was Arda Güler.
The 18-year-old was at Fenerbahçe last season before moving to Real Madrid this summer. However, PSG was also keen on the midfielder, and a report reveals what went on behind the scenes.
Defensa Central reports that the Turkey international had the possibility of joining PSG if he desired this past summer. PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi had high hopes for landing the teenager and was ready to put the €20 million on the table.
However, Agüler was not interested in the Parisian project, resulting in the decision to join Los Blancos. As a result, the report reveals that it was a substantial blow to Al-Khelaifi, who thought that PSG’s economic offer would have convinced the attacking midfielder.
Still, the Ligue 1 giants did have a quality summer transfer window. They landed quality young players eager to prove themselves and steer away from the superstar names.
