Ousmane Dembélé Emerges as a Leader in PSG Locker Room After Barcelona Exit

Paris Saint-Germain sent shockwaves when they landed Ousmane Dembélé from FC Barcelona this past summer transfer. Despite initial criticisms, the French winger has proven himself valuable both on and off the pitch.

According to a report by L’Équipe, the 26-year-old has quickly established himself as one of the leaders in the PSG locker room. The transition from Barcelona to Paris presented its own set of challenges. However, he’s rising to the occasion.

The French media outlet notes that the PSG winger’s first criticisms of his lack of effectiveness did not affect him psychologically. The Frenchman knows many will primarily judge him in the most important games this 2023-24 season.

If the Parisians want to leave with a win over Newcastle United, they’ll need a quality performance from Dembélé. The forward was on CBS Sports’ Team of the Week for Matchday 1. Perhaps he can replicate that performance.

Nonetheless, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner’s performances on the pitch have steadily improved. So, he’s begun to repay PSG’s faith in him by becoming the squad’s creative engine.
