The future of Kylian Mbappé is once again becoming a talking point as the January transfer window nears. The Frenchman can sign a pre-contract with any club as he’ll become a free agent after this 2023-24 season.
L’Equipe reports that PSG still hopes to persuade Mbappé to extend his contract. However, no decision is expected before the club completes its Champions League campaign this season.
Real Madrid is closely linked to the 24-year-old, eyeing a move when he becomes a free agent next summer. Mbappé’s relationship with PSG’s leadership has significantly improved since a financial agreement was reached, with both parties displaying patience and the motto being “no one loses.”

The club remains calm, awaiting Mbappé’s decision. They are ready to respect whatever decision Mbappé ultimately makes. The club’s management understands the magnitude of this decision for both the player and the club, and they’re prepared to face whatever outcome arises.
Although the Spanish club wants the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner, RMC Sport’s Danielo Riolo believes that Los Blancos shouldn’t be pursuing the winger.
“It seems written, Mbappé must end up at Real Madrid,” Riolo said recently on After Foot. “But if I’m manager of Real, I won’t take it. Because I have Vinicius, a great player who plays in Mbappé’s preferential position, he is not a No. 9, and there is Haaland, who has a release clause, which is not crazy.”
