AS: The Reason Why Mbappé Pushed for PSG to Take Dembélé from Barcelona

This summer, Paris Saint-Germain made a drastic change. They allowed Lionel Messi to leave as a free agent and sold Neymar Jr. to Al-Hilal. One of the reasons that the capital club decided to move away from them is Kylian Mbappé.

The summer was filled with drama, in which many assumed that the 24-year-old would leave after not triggering the option to extend his contract. Nonetheless, the Frenchman is now at the center of PSG’s project for this 2023-24 season.

Furthermore, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner staying is why Diario AS reports that the winger had a role in recruiting his teammate on the France national team, Ousmane Dembélé.

The Spanish media outlet notes that Mbappé told the Ligue 1 side that his best form has come alongside the former FC Barcelona winger. As a result, PSG agreed with the Spanish side over a €50.4 million transfer fee.

“Another of Dembélé’s strengths, perhaps, is his partnership with Kylian Mbappé,” the Spanish media outlet says. “Many interpreted the signing of the former Barcelona player as a nod to Kiki because of their friendship and because he privately reiterated, before sharing a dressing room with Messi and Neymar, that he had been the best player he had ever played with on a pitch.”

PSG will be counting on Dembélé and Mbappé on Wednesday as the French side looks to pullout a favorable result against AC Milan at the Parc des Princes.
