Paris Saint-Germain winger Kylian Mbappé is among the top football earners. The 24-year-old recently received a new contract with the capital club last summer, and his wages reflect what a superstar player earns.
However, Mbappé doesn’t stand at the top of the wage scale because of Saudi Arabia’s entrance into the global scale of football. Three of the top five earners currently play in the Saudi Pro League.
Forbes released its annual list of top football earners, and in the No. 1 spot is Al-Nassr’s Cristiano Ronaldo, who makes €247 million per year. Lionel Messi is no. 2 on the list, as the Argentine earns €128 million per year with Inter Miami.
Neymar Jr. is next on the list, earning €106 million per year, and finally comes Mbappé at No. 4, with the Frenchman making €104 million yearly. Finally, rounding out the top five is Karim Benzema, whose annual salary is €100 million.
It will be interesting to see if Mbappé’s next contract, which will come after this 2023-24 season, will push him ahead of Neymar and maybe Messi.
