Paris Saint-Germain revamped their midfield this summer transfer window. However, one key issue the group lacks is size, which could be solved if the capital club would pursue AS Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana.
At 6′ 1,″ Fofana brings the height that only Manuel Ugarte has with his 6’ 0” frame. Vitinha (5’ 8”) and Warren Zaïre-Emery (5’ 10”) are quality players, but having a mix of size and skill would be ideal for the group.
So why is Fofana’s name connected with PSG? The 24-year-old was asked by CANAL+ Foot about possibly joining the French giants, considering that’s his hometown club.
“It’s the town I come from; it’s the first club I supported,” Fofana told the French media outlet. “But, I would always put myself as number one because I’m selfish and… (laughs) in this world, you have to. If this is the place that will ensure that the objectives are met, why not? Otherwise, I would go elsewhere.”

Furthermore, the midfielder’s contract with Monaco expires next summer, and PSG has been shown to take advantage of the free-agent market. Still, the Ligue 1 giants will face competition should they pursue Fofana.
Manchester United showed interest in the Frenchman if they did not get Soyfan Amabrat, which they did. Could the Red Devils circle back, especially if he becomes a free agent?
Additionally, Juventus is monitoring the player in response to possibly needing to replace Paul Pogba after failing an anti-doping test. Regardless, expect the Monaco star to have suitors come January.
