Paris Saint-Germain were humiliated 4-1 against Newcastle United on Wednesday at St. James’ Park. The capital club received a punch to the face, and although there was controversy surrounding the second goal, it didn’t matter in the end.
Right after the match, Lucas Hernandez offered his thoughts on the loss. The Frenchman notes what he believes is the reason that led to the defeat against the Premier League side.
“It’s the Champions League,” Hernandez told Canal Plus. “If we don’t get the rhythm going, if we don’t get the desire on the pitch, we’ll lose the game. It will be up to us to come back and bring the intensity straight into the next game.”

Furthermore, Gonçalo Ramos also spoke to the media and believed that the little details led to the disastrous result.
“We tried to play our game against a superb team,” Ramos told Canal Plus. “It’s a nightmare because it’s a big defeat. We played our game, we had our chances. It’s just a matter of the little details, which Newcastle had in their favor. They were stronger in the duels; they managed to score their chances – that’s why they won.”

PSG has to put this loss in the rearview mirror. Newcastle leads in Group F with four points, followed by the French giants with three points. Afterward, there’s AC Milan, as they have two points with two draws in their first two games. Finally, Borussia Dortmund is in last place with one point.
The Ligue 1 side will have to prepare for back-to-back matches against AC Milan, which could be the turning point to see who advances in the top two spots.
