Fabrizio Romano: The Latest on PSG’s Attempt to Keep Mbappé Amid Real Madrid Links

Paris Saint-Germain will try for a second straight year to hold onto Kylian Mbappé. Real Madrid remains lurking and ready to pursue the 24-year-old, who can become a free agent after this 2023-24 season.

The capital club has put the Frenchman at the center of their project. However, is it enough for the Parisians to keep him, or is the lure of the Spanish giants finally sufficient for the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner to head abroad?

Transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano provided the latest on Caughtoffside (h/t Le10Sport), where the journalist states that PSG has done all it can to convince him to extend. As a result, there’s not much the Ligue 1 giants can do now.

“Despite what has been reported elsewhere, I have no news about Mbappé and an imminent contract offer from PSG,” Romano said.

“It seems obvious that PSG has offered him a new contract for a long time; they spent years insisting on extending the contract, so it’s up to Mbappe now, not PSG. And there is no update yet from Mbappé’s side. We will see in the coming weeks or months.”

All PSG can hope is for Mbappé to see that their project is heading in the right direction under new manager Luis Enrique. If the capital club can punch their ticket to the UEFA Champions League knockout stages, they could go a long way in Mbappé gaining confidence in what they’re building.
